CF Walk is Saturday

BAR HARBOR — The Annual Great Strides Walk to cure Cystic Fibrosis is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22 beginning at the Connors Emerson School on the Eagle Lake Road. Walkers may register for the the walk at 8:30 a.m. at the school. The 6-mile walk through Acadia National Park begins at 9 a.m.

Cystic Fibrosis is a life-threatening, genetic disease which affects the lungs and digestive system, causing chronic bacterial lung infections and digestive difficulties. Children and adults with CF have rigorous daily treatments to help clear sticky mucus from the lungs, which is time consuming and necessary. People with CF are typically on multiple medications, nebulizers (breathing treatments) antibiotics, and pills to maintain their health.

To learn more about the walk and get sponsor form, contact Phyllis Leighton 288-5430 or Rebecca Murray 288-4899.
