Cathy Lewis Appointed to Address Dropout Problem at Sumner High School

SULLIVAN — With Sumner Memorial High School under scrutiny because of its high dropout rate, a veteran elementary school principal has been named to lead an effort to help keep students in school until graduation.

Cathy Lewis of Sorrento, most recently interim principal at the Peninsula School and formerly principal at the Ella Lewis School in Steuben and at Brewer Primary Schools, Tuesday was appointed interim assistant principal at Sumner by the Regional School Unit 24 (RSU 24) board.

The vacancy was created when Assistant Principal Dan Clifford moved to Bucksport High School.
