Castine CROP Walk Set for Sept. 23

CASTINE — “Ending Hunger One Step at a Time” will be the theme of this year’s CROP (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) Walk in Castine on Sunday, Sept. 23.

The walk starts at 1 p.m. at the Town Common.

CROP Walks are fund-raisers sponsored by Church World Service, an interdenominational organization committed to combating poverty abroad and at home. Twenty-five percent of funds raised by the walks stays in the local communities. This year the funds will be again be donated to the Hancock County affiliate of Habitat for Humanity.

Area groups involved in the walk include the Trinity Episcopal Church, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Castine, the Trinitarian Congregational Parish of Castine, Our Lady of Holy Hope and the West Brooksville Congregational Church.
