Carving Session Set

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — A carving workshop is scheduled at the Wendell Gilley Museum in Southwest Harbor on Sunday, Nov. 8.

An upside-down black-capped chickadee ornament will be created by participants between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. under the guidance of the museum’s carver-in-residence, Steven Valleau.


The class is ideal for beginning adults, but experienced carvers are welcome as well.

Pre-registration is required; fees are $20 for museum members and $25 for non-members. All supplies are provided and tools may be borrowed during the workshop.

The class is open to adults, and children 11 and older accompanied by an adult.

The Wendell Gilley Museum is open on its late fall schedule from Nov. 1 through Dec. 20, every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. No new admissions are admitted to the galleries after 3:30 p.m.
