CASTINE — The Adams School Calvin Project, a group of seventh- and eighth-grade students working to save endangered North Atlantic right whales from extinction, invites the community to attend a special “thank-you” event at Emerson Hall in Castine on Thursday, Jan. 23, from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
At the event, which will feature refreshments as well as presentations, the Calvineers will share information about their recent trip to Barcelona, Spain, for the 2nd World Marine Mammal Conference.
The event will open at 5 with a light buffet of Spanish-style tapas (appetizers), contributed by Calvineer families, and an opportunity for guests to engage with individual Calvineers while viewing photos from the trip and posters prepared by the students. Presentations will begin at about 5:45, with the Calvineers sharing new findings about North Atlantic right whales, other information learned at the World Marine Mammal Conference and an overview of their cultural experiences in Barcelona.
