Cabaret to Raise Food, Fuel Funds

BAR HARBOR — A dinner cabaret will raise money for Mount Desert Island food and fuel funds at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, at St. Saviour’s Church, 41 Mt. Desert St. in Bar Harbor.

Called, “Ragtime meets Mack the Knife,” the evening will include classic American ragtimes performed by Masanobu Ikemiya and the best songs from Kurt Weill’s “Three Penny Opera.”

Rupununi’s kitchen will provide the dinner. Sponsors and supporters include Harbor House, Rupununi’s, the MDI Community Campfire Coalition, MDI food pantries, the Common Good Café and St. Saviour’s Parish.

Admission and dinner costs 3 cents plus at least $10.

Every penny will go for food and fuel donations on Mount Desert Island — 60 percent to the Community Campfire Coalition for fuel, 15 percent to the Bar Harbor Food Pantry, 15 percent to the Westside Food Pantry and 10 percent to the Common Good Café, a soup kitchen in Southwest Harbor by the Seawall Motel.

Tickets may be purchased at the Harbor House office in Southwest Harbor or by phone at (207) 244-3713, ext 105.

Anyone wishing to help or volunteer should contact Harbor House or George Swanson at (207) 244-0579 or [email protected]
