TRENTON — The National Scenic Byways Program of the Federal Highway Administration has designated the six miles of Route 3 through Trenton – from Ellsworth to Thompson Island – as part of the Acadia All-American Road.
The All-American Road now stretches 41 miles from Ellsworth to Bar Harbor and around the Acadia National Park Loop Road.
The Scenic Byways Program recognizes roads that are particularly scenic or have exceptional cultural, historic, archeological or recreational value. The most scenic roads are designated All-American Roads.
“We think this will be an economic boost to Trenton,” said Peter Lazas, chairman of the Trenton Byway Extension Subcommittee of the Acadia All-American Road Corridor Committee.
