Busy weekend set at Fort Knox

PROSPECT — The Friends of Fort Knox have announced that the first ghost tours of the season, conducted by the East Coast Ghost Trackers, will take place Saturday evening, May 18.

Visitors may sign up for one of three 90-minute guided tours where they will learn ghost hunting techniques, the legends of fort hauntings and see ghost hunting equipment in action.

The tours are $15 per person and tickets may be purchased in advance by calling 469-6553.

The tours will take place at 7, 8:30 and 10 p.m.

Also, the 20th Maine Civil War re-enacting group will be present at Fort Knox during the weekend of May 17-19, conducting its school of the soldier program.

Visitors to the fort may get a glimpse of the 20th Maine conducting drills in preparation for its encampment season.

On Saturday, May 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Maine Foster Family Day will take place at Fort Knox. Foster families from throughout Maine converge on Fort Knox for an annual day of fun, food and games.
