Ruth Moore, an integrative and holistic health practitioner, has been awarded her advanced practitioner status as a clinical aromatherapist from the Advanced Practitioner Board of the Alliance of International Aromatherapists. This credential certifies that she has met all the requirements to provide clinical consultations to both patients and physicians regarding the therapeutic uses of essential oils to support the body through immunity challenges or recovery processes.
Although not well known in the United States, clinical aromatherapists provide comprehensive services in Europe and work independently in private practice. Preparation for this level of practice requires certification as an aromatherapist, an advanced degree heavy in biology, anatomy and physiology, multiple chemistries, multiple psychologies, immunology, pathology and pharmacology. Dr. Moore was trained in Italy and France and worked for 2.5 years under the tutelage of M. Salvatti and G. Manoni before completing her undergraduate work in science and psychology and her graduate degree in cognitive behaviorism and neuroscience.
She is in private practice in Ellsworth and is a recognized fellow of the Complementary Medical Association in Europe and the United States. Her areas of specialty include holistic and behavioral health and functional medicine and weight loss. She can be reached at 619-4886 or www.downeastwellness.com.
