Bucksport Police: Weasel a Surprise Visitor

BUCKSPORT — A Jacob Buck Pond Road resident called police Jan. 11 after discovering a weasel in her bedroom.


Police notified the town animal control officer, who referred the matter to the game warden.

Suspicious Conditions

A Central Street resident called police Jan. 14 after reportedly finding footprints in the snow next to his chicken and rabbit cages. The resident was concerned a neighbor might be trying to poison the animals, which were unharmed.


Treacherous road conditions kept emergency personnel busy Jan. 15 as black ice was reported throughout the area.

On Route 46 that morning, Casey Bridges, 19, of Dedham lost control on the ice and struck a vehicle in the oncoming lane, police said.

Marie Sherwood, 61, of Stockton Springs was the driver of the other vehicle, a 2007 Toyota 4Runner that had about $1,000 in damage. Bridges’ 2005 Hyundai Elantra sustained an estimated $2,000 in damage.

Later that morning, Sandra Squilanti, 45, of Bucksport hit black ice on Millvale Road and left the roadway.

Estimated damage was $1,500 to her 2001 Mercury Mystique.

The Bucksport Fire Department also responded to several Orland accidents that day.

No injuries were reported in a Jan. 14 accident on Route 1.

According to police, Autumn Urango, 17, of Orland pulled out in front of another vehicle while making a left turn onto Route 1.

Kevin McConnell, 48, of Camden was unable to stop and struck her vehicle.

His 2000 Dodge pickup and her 2002 Chevrolet sport utility vehicle each sustained about $2,000 in damage.


A Millvale Road resident reported $350 stolen from a secret hiding spot in his home Jan. 15.

Police are investigating.

Two registration plates were reported stolen from a vehicle on Moosehorn Drive Jan. 12.


Someone reported seeing two people trying to break into a vehicle parked at Wenbelle Apartments Jan. 16.

No access was gained to the vehicle.


Three young men who were reportedly yelling and flashing their middle fingers at passers-by on Bridge Street Jan. 15 were warned for disorderly conduct.
