Bucksport Church To Host Concert

BUCKSPORT — The Somerset Consort will present a concert on Friday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. in the Elm Street Congregational Church in Bucksport.


Carlton Russell, professor of music and college organist emeritus at Wheaton College, will perform on the historic 1863 E. & G.G. Hook pipe organ, one of only nine left in the state of Maine.

He will be joined by Lorna Brookes Russell, viola da gamba and organ, and Diana Brookes Brown, flute.

The program will include works from the late Renaissance, Baroque and Romantic periods for solo and duo organ, piano and organ and ensemble with flute and continuo.

The church is located on the corner of Elm and Franklin streets. There is ample free parking and the church is handicapped accessible.

There will be refreshments and social time afterward.

Advance tickets are available through the church office at 469-3333 or BookStacks. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for seniors. Children are admitted free.
