BUCKSPORT — As part of its 2011 Concert Series, the Elm Street Congregational Church in Bucksport will present a concert by The Somerset Consort on Friday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m.
Consort members Diana Brookes Brown, flute, Lorna Brookes Russell, viola da gamba, and Carlton T. Russell, organ, will be joined by flutist Richard Sanner in a program of mostly Baroque music.
The program will include organ transcriptions of music by Handel and flute sonatas and trio sonatas by German and English composers, including Quantz and Daniel Purcell.
An unaccompanied flute duet by Carl Stamitz will add a dash of the Classical style.
The church is located at the corner of Elm and Franklin streets and is handicapped-accessible. There is ample free parking in lots behind the church and across Franklin Street. Freewill donations will benefit the church, which is on the National Historic Register.
For more information, contact the church office on Wednesdays (8 a.m to 4 p.m.) or Thursdays (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.) at 469-3333, or e-mail the office at [email protected].
