BUCKSPORT — Buck Memorial Library trustees hope to repair another of the library’s deteriorating walls this summer.
Two recent grants will help. The library has received $50,000 from the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation and $15,000 from the Belvedere Fund for Historic Preservation, which is administered through the Maine Community Foundation.
Robert Blake, chairman of the private library’s board of trustees, said the money will be pooled with previous donations and a $2,500 gift from Bangor Savings Bank.
More fund raising is still necessary.
“We think it’ll be over $110,000,” Blake said of the cost of replacing the library’s north wall.
The building was constructed in 1887, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
