Book sale, film at Blue Hill Library

BLUE HILL — The Friends of Blue Hill Public Library will hold their first-Saturday-of-the-month book sale on Nov. 5 in the library’s basement “book nook” from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Most books are still only a dollar or two. Featured this month are unique antique books and how-to books for the holidays. Specials include half-price on fiction and CDs for just 25 cents. Children may select a free book.

The Friends group’s film series continues on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. with a showing of “Key Largo” (1948), starring Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall and Edward G. Robinson.

The film is directed by John Huston and is based on the play of the same name by Maxwell Anderson. In the film, a WWII veteran goes to Key Largo to visit the widow of his Army buddy and finds that the hotel her father owns has been taken over by the mob.
