Blue Hill Pride Parade set for June 28

BLUE HILL — The First Congregational Church of Blue Hill will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first Gay Pride parade in New York City, on Sunday, June 28, from 1-2 p.m.

This date also commemorates the 51st anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. Due to COVID-19, the LGBTQ Pride Parade will be a “stand in place” observance on the sidewalk in front of the church, stretching up Tenney Hill and along Main Street. Masks are required and those planning to attend might also consider donning a hula-hoop, innertube or decorated box to help with 6 feet of social distancing. Businesses are invited to decorate their entrances and windows to join in the celebration.

This event will be held rain or shine and participants are encouraged to bring an umbrella, decorated, if possible. Everyone is invited to participate and are encouraged to stagger arrival times during the hour-long celebration.

For more information, call the church office at 374-2891.
