Blue Hill Library Hosting Events



BLUE HILL — The public is invited to participate in the Blue Hill Public Library Play Reading Group on Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the library.

The group will meet every third Wednesday of the month until summer.

The play selected for January is “The Beauty Queen of Leenane.”

The library also will be hosting an opera preview event on Friday, Jan. 18, at 1 p.m.

Donizetti’s opera “Maria Stuarda” comes to The Grand in Ellsworth on Saturday, Jan. 19, by live simulcast from the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

Local opera enthusiasts Linda Lesko and David Porter will lead the discussion.

Artistic bookmaker Anne-Claude Cotty will do a pop-up bookmaking workshop for children ages 7 to 13 at the library on Saturday, Jan. 19, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The theme will be snow.

The program is free, but space is limited and registration is required.
