Blue Hill Library Events Scheduled

BLUE HILL — The Blue Hill Public Library has several events planned in May.

The library’s “Around the World on Saturdays” program continues in May with a special stop at Blue Hill Mountain on May 1.

Families can hike up the trail and at the top, relax and listen to stories read in a beautiful setting. Snacks will be provided and the mileage can be recorded for the library’s Appalachian Trail program. The stories at the summit will start at 11 a.m. Families should plan on an average of 45 minutes for the ascent, depending on the variables attendant to hiking with young children. Refreshments will be available at the top for hikers of all ages.

The public is invited to join the Thursday night knitters for a final night of knitting before the group breaks for the summer.

The knitting group will gather at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 6, to celebrate all the knitting accomplished over the winter.

Children’s book author Chris Van Dusen of Camden will visit the library on Wednesday, May 12, at 3:30 p.m.

Van Dusen will be reading from his new book, “The Circus Ship.”

Books will be available for sale at the event and Van Dusen will allow time for signing.
