WINTER HARBOR — Cassie Gibbs, professor emerita from the University of Maine, will lead a special public program as part of Acadia National Park’s BioBlitz on Sunday, July 24, from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
The program, held at Moore Auditorium on the campus of the Schoodic Education and Research Center (SERC) in Winter Harbor, will include moth and butterfly color and defense mechanisms, life history and predation.
Also included is information about endangered butterflies in Maine, silk moths and monarch butterflies. Participants also will learn to capture and identify moths and butterflies found on the SERC campus.
The program is free and open to the public. Advance registration is requested.
