Benefit Walk Set In Milbridge

MILBRIDGE — The Women’s Health Resource Library will sponsor a three-mile walk on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 9 a.m., starting at the Vets Club in Milbridge.

The walk is being held in memory of the late Elaine Hill, who served the community as a nurse at the Milbridge Medical Center for over 30 years. She lost her battle with breast cancer in February this year.

The walk, which will be an annual event, is planned to correspond with the Susan G. Koman three-day walk in Washington, D.C.

Hill’s daughter, Carol Hill Zimmerman, will be walking in Washington to honor her mother and raise money for breast cancer research.

A portion of the funds raised in the Milbridge walk will go to the Koman fund. The remainder will be used for a nursing scholarship in Elaine Hill’s name.

Walkers will go from the Milbridge Vets Club and proceed straight onto Fickett’s Point and the site of the former Hill home, and then head back to the Vets Club.

Individuals and teams are encouraged to contact the Women’s Health Resource Library at 546-7677 for registration and sponsor forms.
