BAR HARBOR — The Acadia Wildlife Foundation, the area’s only wild animal refuge and treatment center, is expanding.

Foundation director Ann Rivers said this week that the center now has an indoor, year-round facility for water birds. The facility has ample clean water for the birds to spend time in as they recover from injuries. The bird facility was made possible by the generosity of the late Paul Hinton, Ms. Rivers said. Two loons are currently spending time in the water facility recovering from injuries suffered in the wild.
