Acadia Announces Winter Schedule

ACADIA NAT’L PARK — Acadia National Park has announced its winter schedule.

During November, Blackwoods Campground is on a first-come, first-served, self-registration system. The cost is $10 per night. From Dec. 1 through March 31, the entrance road to the campsites is closed on Route 3 and camping is primitive. A permit must be obtained at park headquarters, but there is no charge for camping.

The Park Loop Road will close on Dec. 1, except for the Ocean Drive section between Schooner Head Overlook and the Otter Cliff Road. Access to Jordan Pond is via Jordan Pond Road in Seal Harbor. Snowmobiles are allowed on Park Loop Road after Dec. 1. Snowmobile and cross country ski conditions will start being updated on the park’s website, www.nps.gov/acad, after the first substantial snowfall.
