$1.9M for Dredging Confirmed

TREMONT — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has confirmed that the $1.9 million Bass Harbor dredging project has received full federal funding.

Mike Tuttle, the Corps’ project manager for Bass Harbor, said $693,000 of the funding is from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, better known as the federal economic stimulus act.

“That helps kick-start the program,” he said.

Other federal funds are coming from the Corps’ operation and maintenance budget and its navigational authority program, Mr. Tuttle said.

Completing the funding picture, the town of Tremont is responsible for $380,000 of the cost.
