128 Golfers Compete in Annual Tournament



BAR HARBOR — A field of 128 golfers turned out for the 17th annual Bar Harbor Bank & Trust David R. Harding Memorial Golf Tournament on Tuesday at the Kebo Valley Golf Club.

BAR HARBOR — A field of 128 golfers turned out for the 17th annual Bar Harbor Bank & Trust David R. Harding Memorial Golf Tournament on Tuesday at the Kebo Valley Golf Club.

Proceeds from the tournament were shared among three Mount Desert Island nonprofits: Bar Harbor Food Pantry, MDI Community Campfire Coalition and Westside Food Pantry.

Winning top honors in the competition were:

First Gross (60) — Philip Norton, David Paine, Daniel Sargent and Ronald Tibbetts.

Second Gross (60) — Tom Wheeler, Tim Ray, David Mitchell and Rob McKinney.

First Net (50.2) — Penny Carter, Melissa DeVos, Betty Bryer and Rita Johnson-Demuro.

Second Net (52.4) — George Kesaris, Scott Allen, Larry Duffy and Francis Russell.

First Mixed (52) — Greg Dalton, Anne Dalton, Rick Moores and Mimi Moores.

Second Mixed (52.5) — Richard Dow, Debbie Mitchell-Dow, Dennis Kelley and Thomas Goodwin.

Awards for closest to the pin went to Joe James on hole 4 (3 feet, .75 inch) and hole six (4 feet, 8 inches); Josh Shelton on hold 9 (10 feet, 1 inch); and Jim McFarland on hold 15 (17 feet, 1 inch).

Roy Miller and Becky Sargent won the longest drive competition on hole 18.

Tournament sponsors were Gross, Minsky & Mogul P.A., the Bangor Daily News and Consumer Title, and Morrison Chevrolet and Stanley Scooters sponsored the hole-in-one competition.

Holes were sponsored by 48 area businesses and individuals, and prizes and raffle items were donated by a host of others.
