GOULDSBORO — A familiar face has returned to the Gouldsboro town office.
The Gouldsboro Board of Selectmen appointed Eve Wilkinson to serve as interim town manager.
Former Town Manager Sherri Cox gave two months notice June 13. Her last day was Aug. 12.
“When it came time for a fill in, Eve was just a shoo-in,” said Selectman Ernie West. “Eve is awesome.”
Wilkinson, who was officially appointed Aug. 8, served as town manager from 1997 to 2015, when she retired. She was named Maine Clerk of the Year in 2008.
Prior to becoming town manager, Wilkinson was elected to the Board of Assessors and, in 1991, she joined the town office staff as deputy town clerk. She was later promoted to town clerk and served as tax collector and municipal agent.
West said Wilkinson’s term as the interim manager is open-ended to give the town time to find a new manager.
“We’ll be really, really fussy,” he said, indicating the town has no established timeline to fill the position.
Wilkinson has filled in at the town office in the past and has even filled in at the Hancock town office, she said.
“I offered to help,” she said.
