Twice blessed

SURRY — Launching a new boat should always be a joyful event and last week’s launching of a new boat for the Maine Marine Patrol by Wesmac Custom Boats was extra special for young Brayson Dunton, who joined Spc. Sean Dow (left) and Officer Jeff Turcotte on the boat’s maiden voyage from the Surry launching ramp to a mooring off the Newbury Neck with skipper Linda Greenlaw at the helm. The 10-year-old Dover-Foxcroft boy underwent emergency surgery for a brain tumor last summer and just recently completed his sixth and hoped for final round of chemotherapy, but none of that stopped him from enjoying the boat ride that was part of what he called “my best day ever.” The event was organized by Hancock County Jail Administrator Tim Richardson, a family friend, and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.
