ELLSWORTH — Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital and presenting sponsor Machias Savings Bank invite the community to celebrate the traditions of the season at the 28th Annual Poinsettia Ball to benefit women’s health care, obstetrics and maternity care.

Tickets are on sale now for this year’s Poinsettia Ball to be held Dec. 7 at the Ramada Inn in Ellsworth. Described by organizers as “the area’s premier annual holiday event and fundraiser” and “the can’t-miss event of the season,” the ball draws more than 425 guests. Festive decorations include a 16-foot tree covered in poinsettias. The evening will include a buffet dinner provided by Chipper’s Restaurant and Catering and music by the Larry Williams Band.

The nearly $63,000 raised from last year’s event supported numerous advancements in specialized training for the Maine Coast Hospital obstetrics care team, including advanced life support obstetrics training to fine tune skills that support mothers and babies in distress.

“In addition to several opportunities for clinical education, our obstetrics team has been able to invest in our equipment and technology to deliver care focused on the needs of each patient due the generosity of our community through the Poinsettia Ball,” says Emily Tolman, Maine Coast Hospital’s director of obstetrics and quality.

Machias Savings Bank has been a partner of the Poinsettia Ball since the first event, contributing more than $125,000 over the ball’s 28-year history.

“The Poinsettia Ball is a true community event that supports a tradition of outstanding health care in the greater Ellsworth area,” says Machias Savings Bank President and CEO Larry Barker. “It’s been inspiring to witness the growth of this event and our collective passion for the health of our community.”
