CASTINE — Castine Town Manager Jimmy Goodson has announced his intention to retire effective June 30.
The town manager said he has things he wants to do before he gets “too old to do them.”
Goodson said on a list of things to do before he retires is to hire his replacement.
The Alabama native replaced Dale Abernethy as town manager in July of 2014.
Goodson and his family have lived in Castine since 2002.
Before becoming town manager, Goodson had been involved with Castine’s affordable housing task force. He also served as chairman of the Castine Historic Preservation Commission.
Goodson also had been executive director of Hancock County Habitat for Humanity.
