ELLSWORTH — The Black House at Woodlawn opens for its 87th season on Sunday, May 1, at 1 p.m. Visitors can enjoy self-guided audio tours of the Federal style home with all its original furnishings and art.
Admission is $10 for adults and $3 for children. The public park is open year-round, dawn to dusk, free of charge. Dogs are welcome on a leash.
Woodlawn’s events season kicks off on Saturday, May 7, with a workshop titled “Make a Mother’s Day Card.”
Participants will make a handmade card using the collage technique, using all sorts of ornate papers, crayons, watercolors and metallic paints.
The workshop runs from 1-4 p.m. and costs $45 for Woodlawn members and $55 for nonmembers. Pre-registration is required.
The following day, Sunday, May 8, Woodlawn is hosting a special community event in celebration of Mother’s Day.
All mothers will receive free admission to the museum. The Seal Cove Auto Museum will also bring its 1921 Mercer automobile (weather permitting) to Woodlawn for rides, free of charge, during regular hours, 1-4 p.m.
Families are invited to bring a picnic and enjoy Woodlawn’s public park and walking trails.
