BAR HARBOR — Imagine hiking 2,181 miles all alone as a first-time backpacker.
Christi Holmes will share stories and photos from her solo journey hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2011 during a program at the Jesup Memorial Library on Friday, June 21 beginning at 7 p.m.
The Appalachian Trail winds from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Katahdin in Maine. Holmes maintained a popular blog “Holmes Away from Home,” during her hike. A former summer waitperson on MDI, Holmes grew up in Machias.
She started the Appalachian Trail in March in Georgia. By August, she was completing Maine’s 100-Mile Wilderness and was preparing to end her hike atop Katahdin.
