SURRY — The victim in Sunday night’s Surry fire was identified on Wednesday as 66-year-old Cathy Pinkham by the State Fire Marshal’s Office. Investigators say the cause of the fire remains undetermined because of the extensive fire damage.
Early Monday morning, firefighters located Pinkham’s body inside her burned-out mobile home on the Morgan Bay Road. The body was found in the living room. Firefighters responded to the residence late Sunday night, but the structure was engulfed in flames by the time they arrived.
The mobile home was destroyed.
Surry Fire Chief Richard Black said the fire broke out around 11 p.m.
“We left the scene about a quarter after four this morning,” Black said Monday.
A neighbor reported the fire, Black said.
Fire departments from Ellsworth, Blue Hill, Orland and Sedgwick provided Surry with mutual aid.
