Wizardry Weekend in Bucksport starts Friday

BUCKSPORT — Downtown Bucksport merchants and chefs along with their house elves and other magical creatures expect you in costume, or not, for the Fantasy & Wizardry Weekend with Harry Potter and Friends, starting Friday, July 29, and running through Sunday, July 31.

If you’ve never had a Butterbeer float, now’s your chance at The Dairy Port, which will also have a Harry Potter-themed soft serve flavor over the weekend.

Meg Keay, organizer and owner of Port O’Call, said there will be a costume contest among other events, including a scavenger hunt and games.

This coincides with Witches and Wizarding Day on Saturday, July 30, at Fort Knox.

Buck Memorial Library will have a make your own wand event on July 30 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Win a sorting hat at Port O ‘Call Sunday at 4 p.m.

Sweet Cheeks Bakery will have a drawing for a free Harry Potter cake on Sunday at noon.

Sandy’s Saloon will have Harry Potter-themed drink specials and pretzel “wands.” Glenn’s Place and Verona Wine & Design will also be participating.

Shops on Main Street will have wizarding games and gear. Go all the way down Main Street to Seaboard Federal Credit Union, which will also have some wizardry in the works.
