ELLSWORTH — Heavy winds early Wednesday morning caused power outages throughout the state.
Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. spokesman Susan Faloon said that at one point about 10,000 customers were without power.
Most of the outages occurred in the early morning hours, particularly between 3 and 4 a.m., she said.
“We had a lot of damage to our system,” caused by downed trees and power lines, Faloon said.
Some trees and tree limbs that were damaged in the storm did not fall until later in the morning, causing further outages.
Parts of downtown Ellsworth were without electricity for roughly an hour Wednesday morning.
