Season’s End Draws Near for NEHF

MOUNT DESERT — Racing in the August International One Design (IOD) Series for the Northeast Harbor Fleet (NEHF) was tightly contested as it came down to a tiebreaker between Bill Dowling on Mischief and John Henry on Gambler.

Both skippers ended the series with a score of 16 points, but due to Mr. Dowling nabbing three bullets to Mr. Henry’s one, Mischief took top honors.

“We just finished up the August series which is the all-important one for the IOD class,” NEHF general manager Fran Charles said.

It is the first time in 25 years that the same sailor has won both the July and August series. The last person to complete the back-to-back wins was Dr. Wayne Wibby in 1984.

The winner of the August series is automatically qualified for the IOD Worlds Championships, which are scheduled to be held on Mount Desert Island next year.
