BAR HARBOR — A small experiment in ocean farming is set to get underway off County Road this fall, pending final approval from the Maine Department of Marine Resources (DMR).
Oceanfront landowner Matt Gerald applied this summer for four limited practice aquaculture (LPA) licenses to create inter-tidal oyster production areas in the waters of Western Bay off his County Road property.
Gerald said that the project is highly experimental but that tests in the area have produced some very fine oysters.
