MDI Sailing Center Announces Summer Programs



SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Sign-up is open and spaces are filling fast for summer sailing programs at the MDI Community Sailing Center.

This year, the center will be offering Junior Sailing for ages 6-17. Students are encouraged to sign up for two consecutive weeks.

The program starts on Monday, June 27, and runs through Aug. 19. Scholarship aid is available for year-round youth from MDI.

Adult Beginner Sailing classes will be held in two monthly sessions this summer.

Classes will be held at 430 p.m., rain or shine.

Session one is scheduled for July 5, 7, 12, 14, 19 and 21.

Session two is scheduled for Aug 2, 4, 9, 11, 16 and 18.

Each course fee is $175. No experience is necessary. Pre-registration is required, as space is limited.

An All-women’s Sailing Club will meet every Monday at 4 p.m. starting July 11 and ending Aug. 15.

Both experienced sailors and beginners are encouraged to apply. Pre-registration is required, as space is limited.
