PORTLAND — There are more than 80 talks and presentations scheduled at the Holiday Inn by the Bay about trends in the New England lobster fishery. The symposium is set to take place Nov. 27 to Nov. 30.
Both scientists and fishermen are slated to attend the event, titled: “The American Lobster in a Changing Ecosystem: A U.S.-Canada Science Symposium.”
The event would be sponsored by a host of private and government organizations. Among others, these include the National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration, the University of Maine, the Maine Department of Marine Resources, and the Lobster Institute.
The event includes moderated discussions open to attendees about changes to the fishery as a result of environmental and human impacts. There is a registration fee of $130 for members of the general public or $80 for students.
