MOUNT DESERT — Two clothing companies planning their fall catalogs this year chose local boatyards for photo shoot locations. Vineyard Vines, based in Connecticut, sells “exclusive yet attainable” nautical-inspired men’s women’s, and children’s clothes. Sebago created the “Docksiders” sailing shoe brand, and have since added clothing lines. The company is based in Michigan but several of their shoe lines are made in Maine.
In addition to professional models, some of the employees of the yards got some exposure.
Vineyard Vines visited the Morris yards in Northeast Harbor and Bass Habor, Hinckley’s in Southwest, Wilbur Yachts, and J.W. Boat Company in Hall Quarry.
It was a warm day in July when Vineyard Vines did their shoot aboard several Morris boats. But the clothing being modeled was for fall.
A few weeks later the crew arrived from Sebago. Morris service crew member Edie Lewis served as local coordinator for the Sebago team.
