TREMONT — Lobster boat racing returns to Downeast Maine Sunday when the fleet comes to Bass Harbor for a day of fun without the stress of competing for the annual points championship run by the Maine Lobster Boat Racing Association (MLBRA).
Racing gets under way at 10 a.m., with registration set for 8 to 9 at the fish pier in Bernard. The pier also will be the site of the post-race awards ceremony and a blessing of the fleet.
Unlike most of the season’s lobster boat races, the Bass Harbor event offers few vantage points for viewing the race from the shore. The best bet is to come by boat, or to beg a ride during registration.
