Waltham man arrested, charged with gun crime

ELLSWORTH — A Waltham man was arrested last week after police said he was found to have a loaded firearm in his vehicle while he was driving.

Police said Alec Jordan, 24, was stopped on State Street late on Sept. 12 for an alleged traffic violation.

In the course of the traffic stop, Jordan was found to have two guns in the vehicle — a .22-caliber assault-style rifle and a .45-caliber pistol.

The handgun was unloaded, said Lt. Harold Page, and Jordan told Officer Rick Roberts the rifle also was unloaded.

Page said Roberts, however, found that the rifle had a magazine with nine rounds in it as well as a round in the chamber.

Jordan was arrested on a charge of having a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle.
