Virginia woman killed in Steuben crash

STEUBEN — A Virginia woman died, possibly due to a medical problem, after her sport utility vehicle crashed on Route 1 here Sunday at 7:15 p.m., the Maine State Police reported.

The deceased is Virginia Keiley, 74, of Hume, Va., according to Sgt. Jeff Ingemi.

Keiley was heading north in a 2008 Toyota Rav4 when the crash occurred, Ingemi said.

“The reason for the crash is unknown at this time but appears to have been a medical issue,” Ingemi said.

Keiley was alone in the vehicle and was not wearing her seat belt.

Trooper Miles Carpenter and Trooper Dan Ryan investigated the crash.

The Steuben Fire Department and Petit Manan Ambulance assisted at the scene.
