A two-car accident occurred near the Tracy’s Apartments on Bangor Road Wednesday evening.

ELLSWORTH — Two cars had to be towed after colliding on Bangor Road near the Tracy’s Apartments Wednesday evening, according to a representative from the Ellsworth Police Department.

The accident occurred when one driver failed to slow for another who had stopped and was preparing to turn left into the apartment complex, said Sgt. Glenn Mosher. Both drivers were heading north at the time.

Several police cruisers and emergency response vehicles responded to the scene. Northbound traffic was backed up for a quarter-mile and broken glass was scattered across the road.

Lindsey Farrington, 28, of Ellsworth, a Tracy’s Apartments tenant, had stopped to turn left at the time of the accident, according to Mosher.

He said Farrington’s 2013 Subaru received extensive rear-end damage. Farrington was transported to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital after complaining of minor leg pain.

Farrington’s vehicle was struck by a 2004 Ford pickup truck operated by Daron Clifford, 42, of Blue Hill, Mosher said.

Mosher added that Clifford’s truck also had to be towed due to front-end damage, and that Clifford complained of arm pain but didn’t require medical attention.
