VERONA ISLAND — Maine Drug Enforcement agents arrested two men on drug trafficking charges last week.
They also seized a handgun and $2,600 in cash after serving a search warrant at an East Side Drive residence in Verona Island last Friday, police reported.
Because the occupants did not exit the residence, the Maine State Police Tactical Team was called in to secure the home, said MDEA Northern Division Commander Darrell Crandall.
Prior to the incident, police arrested Richard Files, 47, of Verona Island on a charge of heroin trafficking in Bangor Jan. 31.
Stephon Davis, 23, of Augusta also was arrested on a charge of heroin trafficking.
“Davis was also detained on a federal arrest warrant out of Pennsylvania for violating probation,” Crandall said. “That term of probation followed a conviction in federal court for conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute heroin.”
A woman also was arrested but her charges were later dismissed.
The $2,600 in cash that was seized is alleged to be proceeds from the sale of drugs, the commander said.
“MDEA agents were also assisted during the investigation and arrests by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Bucksport Police Department and the Bangor Police Department,” Crandall said.
Correction: An earlier version of this article contained an error. Richard Files was arrested in Bangor.
