Trenton paving resumes Monday

TRENTON – Construction on Route 3 is already under way this season and paving is scheduled to start Monday, May 13.

The $2.3-million project included reconstruction of one-tenth of a mile of Route 230 and six-tenths of a mile of Route 3 in the vicinity of Route 230. To improve safety and traffic flow, the intersection of routes 230 and 3 has been redesigned to include a new traffic signal and turning lanes.

The primary contractor, K&K Excavation Inc. of Turner, Maine, is planning for one day of daytime paving on the remaining gravel surface. Night paving operations for the two remaining layers of pavement will follow with a one- to two-week gap in between in order to allow for curb placement, sidewalks and cleanup in preparation for the final layer.

The current schedule indicates a late June completion. Motorists may experience delays and are encouraged to allow extra travel time.
