Trainings Set for Caregivers

BLUE HILL — Friendship Cottage in Blue Hill and the Elm Street Congregational Church in Bucksport will be hosting the next round of Maine Savvy Caregiver Project training programs.

The programs last for six weeks and begin on Wednesday, May 27, in Blue Hill and Thursday, May 28, in Bucksport.

Savvy Caregiver is a 12-hour training program for caregivers of people with dementing disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease.

Sessions include training, interactive exercises and discussion.  Between sessions, caregivers have readings to do and exercises and assignments to complete. The next week participants report back the group on these home activities.

Pre-registration is required. For more information or to register, contact Kathryn Pears at the Alzheimer’s Association at 772-0115.
