Town Hill Road Grant Approved

BAR HARBOR – A grant of $40,000 has been approved by officials with the Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT) to cover half the cost of improvements to the intersection of the Knox and Crooked roads with Route 102 in Town Hill.

Town councilors on Tuesday unanimously authorized town manager Dana Reed to sign the grant agreement with the MDOT. Preliminary engineering on the project is slated to begin soon, public works director Chip Reeves said, with the project than coming up for public comment, as authorized in the grant agreement. Construction could take place in the spring of 2012, Mr. Reeves said.
