Surry selectmen discuss grant

SURRY — The Board of Selectmen handled a number of items with the town’s treasurer at its bimonthly meeting Jan. 21.

Treasurer Tom Welgoss advised the board of additional requirements for receipt of a $300,000 Community Development Block Grant. The town of Surry is obtaining the grant on behalf of Wesmac Custom Boats, which will use the funds to make improvements to its Route 172 facility.

Among the requirements is the formation of a committee of residents who either live in the area near Wesmac or will use Wesmac’s services, Welgoss said.
