BUCKSPORT — Staffing changes are afoot at the police department.
Kayla Brooks of Holden was sworn in at the June 10 Bucksport Town Council meeting with several family members present.
Deputy Police Chief David Winchester said Brooks is the department’s first female full-time officer. There have been female reserve officers in the past who worked part time, he said.
The department has also hired another new officer, Tyler Adams of Bucksport.
The Bucksport PD had vacancies to fill because Officer Chris Woodman has left to take a position with the Brewer Police Department.
Winchester said Officer Steven Bishop has left to open his own business.
