St. Germain wins half marathon


BAR HARBOR — Tom St. Germain took first place in the inaugural running of the MDI YMCA June Half Marathon on Sunday. David Painter of Bar Harbor was second.

The 13.1-mile race started and ended in Bar Harbor but included a portion of the Acadia National Park Loop Road, including Ocean Drive.

St. Germain, 46, owner of Jack Russell’s Steakhouse, finished in a time of 1:27:13. Painter, 51, a local physician, logged a time of 1:31:16. In third place was Peter Heslam, 46, of Newburyport, MA in a time of 1:32:10.

Breanna Kelly, 23, of Bar Harbor was the first woman finisher in a time of 1:41:16. Robin Clarke, 43, of Ellsworth was second in a time of 1:45:13. Laura Anderson, 36, of Bar Harbor was third with a time of 1:48:43.

More than 180 runners finished the race.
