SPCA gifts

TRENTON — Animal lovers who wish to remain anonymous have made a $15,000 matching challenge grant to the SPCA of Hancock County’s capital campaign to build and endow a new shelter. There is $125,000 left to raise of a $2 million goal.

According to campaign co-chairman, Dianna Emory, only a fraction of the unwanted, abandoned and neglected animals of Hancock County can currently be accommodated in the existing structure. The planned 5,000-square-foot expansion will house a minimum of 125 cats, 25 dogs and other small animals.

“Construction will not begin until the campaign goal has been achieved,” said Dr. Emory.

Contributions toward the challenge grant can be made to the SPCA of Hancock County at 141 Bar Harbor Road, Trenton, ME  04605 and should be noted “capital campaign.”
