Shot fired in Franklin dispute

FRANKLIN — A Franklin man was arrested early Monday morning after allegedly brandishing a pistol and firing a shot during an altercation with his neighbor Sunday evening, Maine State Police Troop J Commander Rod Charette reported.

After the incident, Christopher Cunningham, 34, retreated into his residence and refused to leave or communicate with troopers, Charette said.

The Maine State Tactical Team was called around midnight, the commander said. The initial call for help was made earlier Sunday evening.

Cunningham was taken into custody on charges of criminal threatening with a firearm and reckless conduct around 4:30 a.m., Charette said.

Cpl. Blaine Silk, Sgt. Daniel Ryan and Trooper Einar Mattson responded to the initial call.

Deputies from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
